Our worship, like our Christian lives, follows a Biblical model consisting of congregational a capella singing, prayer, communion, and a lesson of encouragement for the week. We also include a special moment for greeting visitors and one another, an offering after the communion, an invitation to come forward and share any spiritual needs anyone might have, and of course, our regular announcements.
We offer a co-ed Bible class each Sunday morning as well as a Ladies' Bible class for the feminine perspective. Our instruction and doctrine is totally biblically based. Members here use various versions of the Bible. Our elders and our minister usually quote from the New International Version, but most research many versions in their preparation for teaching. At Oceanside, "Church of Christ" means that we are His and that our teaching is His. After the communion, we offer the opportunity for the younger children to be dismissed to a "Junior Worship" class tailored to their learning levels. Of course, parents may choose to keep the children with them.
In addition to our Sunday worship and Bible classes, we also have Wednesday evening Bible study. Like our Sunday morning classes, this is a teacher-led class based on a topical series of classes. Input from everyone is accepted and encouraged while the teacher helps us stay on topic and base our ideas on sound Biblical teaching. This is not just a theological time, it is an application of Bible teaching to our daily circumstances. Dialog is the teaching method that will nurture your spiritual growth the most. Our mid-week service is the perfect forum to help you grow.
AAt the Church of Christ Oceanside, we serve God, one another, our community, and the world in a variety of ways. This means that we have many specialized ministries as well as routine responsibilities for workers. You can be sure that your talents have an invitation to be used at Oceanside. No-one need be a mere spectator. Oceanside is a smaller, more personal congregation where you will always have something of your self to contribute.
